Welcome to A Whale Crossing
A Whale Crossing vacation rental is located on the north shore of the Big Island of Hawai‘i. A mere third of a mile from the ocean, visitors get an excellent view of the Maui Channel as well as Maui itself. During the winter months, whales, such as the one in this picture, can be seen breaching right off the coast.
Below are some pictures of the property. For pictures of the living quarters, visit the Accommodations page.
People say great things about A Whale Crossing
Best spot on the island is due north!
In May we went north to explore the Kohala coast. A mile off the main road there is a sunny, breezy spot with a gorgeous little cabin, very private, where you can wash the dishes or lie in bed and watch the whales cross while doing so. ... The bed is very comfortable, the decor charming, and the bathroom alone is worth the scenic drive north. Although the cabin is adjacent to the main house, it has complete privacy.
The real deal
I believe my wife and I returned from this place a month ago, yet part of us is still there. After 4 previous trips to the Islands, we finally got it right with this place. Marty and Linda proved to be the most gracious hosts by taking us into their private oasis and showing us the "True Hawaii" that is so easily lost in the resort scene.
The whales were spectacular!
The bungalo is like stepping into the Polynesian past. Lovely grass house surrounded by trees protecting you from the sun. Balmy breezes off the ocean. It's out of the way of everything, kind of like being on a small desert island and yet it's easy to get to Hawi or other larger cities if you need to. The most amazing thing was sitting at the dining table with a glass of wine and watching the whales breaching and blowing as they swam back and forth just off Kohala point.
